- Democratic Town Committee Chair Lesa Peters Honored with State Democratic Award
Democratic Town Committee Chair Lesa Peters was one of 10 extraordinary Democratic women to receive the 2009 Ella Grasso Leadership Award at the Democratic State Central Committee's 6th Annual Ella Grasso Women's Leadership Awards Breakfast at Aqua Turf on Friday, October 16, 2009.
Cting "the remarkable transformation" Woodbury has undergone under Lesa's leadership, the award citation notes that in a traditionally Republican stronghold, Lesa has worked hard to communicate the Democratic Party's message and to build membership. In addition, it notes, one of Lesa's "biggest accomplishments has been the successful creation and implementation of the Washington DC intern program for young people in Woodbury and surrounding towns. This program provides a tremendous life experience for local youth, and has sparked the interest of this cohort in running for local office and taking an active role in bettering their communities."
The Democratic Town Committee congratulates Lesa — and thanks her for her outstanding leadership!

We encourage you to read the Woodbury Annual Report for 2009 with care. Take note of the exceptional fiscal leadership the town enjoyed during the 2008-2009 year, resulting in a reduction of 2.7 percent in the town budget. Woodbury was served exceptionally well by the team of Paul Hinckley, Charles Bartlett and George Hale. The town of Woodbury is grateful for their strong and steady hands on the helm these past two years.
